Starting around REDHAWK 1.9, a FrontEnd Interfaces (FEI) project wizard was added to the IDE. As you walk through it though, it’s clear that this wizard is intended to quickly set up a project for developing within a specific subset of that IDL: tuners (channelizers, etc.). It provides the option to also have the GPS interface included, however no option exists for creating only an FEI-compatible GPS receiver. So what is the solution if this is all you need?
In this video we take you through the short work-around available in REDHAWK 2.0 that allows you to use the wizard for just this, a GPS receiver device. This can be handy if all you need is position information related to the Node and not necessarily precise GPS time synchronization of your other sensors. Going along with this video release, we are also releasing a refreshed version of the GPS receiver Device we used in a handful of exercises which integrates with the GlobalSat BU-353-S4 USB dongle.
