Property Kinds: Property

If you have been following our site in recent months, you likely saw this post: Entity Properties in REDHAWK.  It provides a brief overview of the various kinds as well as some examples.

But where that post leaves off is tying it all together into a hands-on learning experience; so today we’re kicking off the Property Kinds series on our YouTube channel.  This series will take you through completing each of 4 entities to build a control loop managing a sawtooth signal generator Device.

Starting this series is a brief session on the Property kind (Formerly, called Configure).  A property being marked as property allows the end user to change it both when being setup in a Node or Waveform as well as tweak the values while the entity is deployed into the Domain.  As we’ll show, these changes can also occur from the Python shell giving you straight-forward access to scripting changes to your Components and Devices.

If you would like to participate in the hands-on work for each part of this series, please pick up a fresh copy of the Code Blocks.  It provides the 4 starting projects plus some XML for a change we’ll make in part 2.

But for now, let’s explore how to add and use a Configure property.
